There are several different types of depressive disorders that people suffer from. A few of the most common are Major Depression, Clinical Depression and Bipolar Disorder, which is also known as “Manic” Depression.
Everyone has symptoms of feeling mentally “down” from time to time, but a person must have these depressive symptoms for at least two weeks before they can be diagnosed as depressed. Other symptoms of depression may be suicidal thoughts, lack of self worth, feelings of hopelessness, difficulty sleeping, irritability, mood swings, sadness and more.
Researchers have come up with a large variety of different antidepressant medications that are now available. It can sometimes take up to a month before these medicines begin to absorb into a persons system, but some have proven to be very effective. If you believe that you’re suffering from depression and it’s been at least two weeks time, then you should make an appointment to see your doctor right away.
